Society and culture: Platonov Arts Festival opens in Voronezh

V International Platonov Arts Festival will take place in Voronezh from the 3rd to the 14th of June 2015. Among the participants are the theater companies, musicians, artists and writers from 24 countries, including the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Platonov Festival goes in Voronezh annually in such the areas as Theatre, Street Theater, Classical Music, World Music, Exhibitions and Literature. This year in festival’s program are 16 concerts, 32 theater performances, 8 exhibitions, a parade of the street theaters, literary projects, film screenings, as well as the ceremony of Platonow Prize in literature and art, the winner of which this year is a writer Andrey Bitov.

On June 3rd the art center and three exhibition projects - "Fear, Bread and Faith. Prototypes and plots of Andrei Platonov in Russian Photo Chronic of 20-30s Years of the XX Century","Utter Enthusiasm of Existance. Photocopies of publications of Andrei Platonov’s in Voronezh Newspapers and Magazines" and children's "Impossible" exhibition in the building of the printing house of the Kommuna (Commune) newspaper.

The exhibitions, press conferences, literary evenings, concerts and film screenings will go during the festival at the Art Center.

The Exhibition Hall on Kirov Street will host an exhibition of sketches of costumes and scenery, mock-ups of the performances created by theater artists of the former Soviet Union from the collection of A. A. Bakhrushin Theater Museum entitled "In a Space without Borders."

"Pavel Filonov. Paintings and Drawings from the Collection of the State Russian Museum" exhibition will open in the Museum of I. N. Kramskoy. In the exposition are 43 works by the great artist, one of the leaders of Russian avant-garde, the founder of analytical art.
