The Year of Literature in Russia-2015: Results of the Year of Literature summed up in Moscow

Interim results of the Year of Literature and prospects of development of the book industry in the State Duma were discussed by the participants of the joint meeting of the Council for Culture of the Chairman of the State Duma, the Organizing Committee for Russia's Year of Literature and Russian Book Union.

Chairman of the State Duma Sergei Naryshkin said: "The development of literature, the Russian language support is among the strategic objectives of the state, as is an integral part of national culture and, and national security. Therefore, the State Duma draft laws to all who support the Russian language and literature of particular relevance. 

The chairman of the State Duma considers it important "to teach children, students, young people cherish and love the book, cherish the right and a rich Russian language". In this regard, Naryshkin spoke about last June 29 in the first session of the State Duma working group on the formation of the concept of teaching Russian language and literature in schools and the creation of a few lines of text books, to discuss further proposed initiative proposals, as well as the development of the book industry and the promotion of reading.  

Summing up the discussion, Sergei Naryshkin noted that "the Year of Literature has a large number of events and activities of both federal and regional level" and that "the literature of the Year Organizing Committee will continue its work outside of calendar 2015", and the main thing, "it began the work on the concept of teaching Russian language and literature, in the framework of a working group formed three subgroups: the teaching of the Russian language, the Russian literature and Russian as a foreign language".
