International conferences: International conference, dedicated to the problems of preserving the creative heritage of outstanding artists of Russia and Europe, in the Kaliningrad region
July 16-17, 2015 the Administration of the municipal education “Guards Borough” together with the Kaliningrad Art Gallery will provide International conference “Problems of preserving the creative heritage of outstanding artists of Russia and Europe in monographic museums. Creation of museum complex of Lovis Corinth in Gvardeisk of the Kaliningrad region”.
The conference is dedicated to the memory of Vladimir Yurievich Matveev - Deputy Director for Development and exhibition activities of the State Hermitage Museum, who one of the first representatives of the Russian museum community supported the project. With his participation in last December was held the first joint discussion of the creation of the museum complex Lovis Corinth in the historic homeland of the artist - the East Prussian town of Tapia, now Gvardeysk. Cover letter in support of the project was the last document signed by Vladimir Yurievich, who died in March this year.
Lovis Corinth (1858-1925) - one of the largest German painters of the XIX-XX centuries, whose name is known throughout the world. In 2015 is celebrated the 90th anniversary of the death of the artist. This commemorative anniversary date is timed to set of events implemented by the Kaliningrad Art Gallery in conjunction with the City District Administration Guards (exhibitions, lectures, tours, workshops, museum lessons), the main of which - the International Conference. This is an important step towards the formation of a professional concept of the future of the museum complex, its mission, main functions and features. Only with the support and assistance of the representatives of the museum community, this project will become a reality in the foreseeable future.
As part of the conference in Kaliningrad Art Gallery on July 16 will be open the exhibition "Rembrandt only star is shining in the darkness". The exhibition will feature works on biblical and mythological subjects - graphic sheets by Lovis Corinth and facsimile engraving of Rembrandt, who Corinth whole life considered his teacher.
The exhibition "Rembrandt only star is shining in the darkness" is open to Kaliningrad residents and guests of the city until August 23.
