Exhibitions: The exhibition telling of the participation of the Georgian people in the Great Patriotic War opened

In Tbilisi was opened an exhibition dedicated to the contribution of the Georgian people to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The exhibition "Georgians in the World War II", which was developed at the Simon Janashia National Museum of Georgia, features about 250 items that belonged to soldiers of the Red Army.

Georgian soldiers in the army of the Soviet Union took part in the ground, air and naval operations. According to historians, from the republic to the front went more than 700 thousand people. About half of them have returned from the fighting.

GMSE annually holds a number of events dedicated to the Victory Day. The jubilee year was no exception. Activists put in order memorials and monuments on the common graves. In schools in Georgia were organized classes in which students talked about the war. The veterans living in the country - they received holiday baskets are not forgotten.
