Society and church: Unique manuscript of the Assumption Cathedral are donated to the Archdiocese of Astrakhan

In the Astrakhan Kremlin took place a solemn transfer of leadership of the Astrakhan archdiocese of archival copies of manuscripts of the description of the Assumption Cathedral of the archive of A. A. Dmitrievsky stored in the National Library of Russia in St. Petersburg. In the Astrakhan region the copies of manuscripts were brought by historians, experts of the Astrakhan District Cossack society of the Cossack Army Society "Great Don Army" together with the members of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society.

Alex Afanasievich Dmitrievsky, a distinguished scientist, was born in Astrakhan province in 1856. He was vice-rector and rector of the University of Astrakhan first. During his life, he collected a huge collection of valuable local history photographs and letters of Astrakhan province and the Assumption Cathedral. Surviving documents have never been published. Ceremonial presentation was timed to two events - the celebration of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the 305th anniversary of the Assumption Cathedral.
