Science and society: Photo exhibition “Climate change around us” honoring the Day of climate diplomacy in Moscow

18 August 2015

August 18 - September 27, 2015 the State Darwin Museum and the British Embassy in Moscow present the photo exhibition "Climate change around us" timed to the Day of climate diplomacy.

Climate change is one of the biggest global challenges of our time. It is happening now and entails adverse consequences for Russia - forest fires, hot weather, frequent floods, hurricanes, melting of permafrost and increase of risks to human health.

Russia and Great Britain play a leading role in combating climate change. Collaboration in the struggle against global climate change is an important element of cooperation between Russia and the UK.

As part of the Day of climate diplomacy, British Embassy in Moscow together with the State Darwin Museum held a photo contest "Climate change around us." Events to mark the Day of the climate diplomacy are an important step towards a new global agreement to be concluded in Paris in December 2015. The purpose of the agreement is to further strengthen global action to combat climate change.

The aim of the contest is to attract public attention to the importance of climate change and the need for taking relevant measures.

The contestants have sent a lot of photographs showing the impact of human activity on the environment, climate change around us, and joint actions that can be taken to combat climate change.

The best works are displayed at the photo exhibition in the State Darwin Museum in Moscow.
