2015 Year of Literature in Russia: "Book Publishing and Education in Russia" exhibition travels to the Vladimir Region
Moscow State United National Park and Museum’s exhibition entitled "Apostles of the Book" in the form of the "Book Publishing and Education in Russia. To the Year of Literature" traveling exhibition project set out on its way to Alexandrovskaya Sloboda State Historical and Architectural National Park and Museum in the Vladimir Region. On August 15, 2015, residents and guests of the ancient city of Alexandrov will get a chance to see a remarkable exhibition, dedicated to the beginning and distribution of printing pursuit in Russia and to the Year of literature ongoing in Russia.
First Russian precisely dated printed book is a publication that shortly called “The Apostle.” On an order of Tsar Ivan IV, Ivan Fyodorov and his assistant Peter Mstislavets printed this book in Moscow printing courtyard in 1564. There are about 70 survived copies of early printed "The Apostle" currently in the world. The exhibition includes rare examples of 1574 and 1597 from the museum's collection.
Unique books that played a huge role in the history of Russian education can be also seen at the exhibition. The creators of these book masterpieces of wisdom were the outstanding enlighteners.
The exhibits of the XVI-XIX centuries from the collections of the Moscow State United National Park and Museum are included into the exhibition: "Rare, handwritten and early printed books", "Old Russian Painting", "Graphics", "Metal" and "Tiles".
Traveling exhibition entitled the “Book Publishing and Education in Russia. To the Year of Literature” will remain open at the Alexandrovskaya Sloboda State Historical and Architectural National Park and Museum to the 4th of October 2015.
