Information and society: “Kaspersky Lab” conducted a survey dedicated to the influence of gadgets on memorizing and reproducing information
"Kaspersky Lab" conducted a survey, the aim of which was to understand how the Internet and gadgets affect memory and recall information. It turned out that modern Russian people are not inclined to learn or try to remember information that can be easily found on the Internet or among the data stored on a digital device. They would rather spend their resources on the memory to remember exactly where the web is the answer to their question.
The effect of the user depending on the global network, dubbed "digital amnesia", reflects the growing pace of life: 78% of Russians said that they needed an answer "here and now". That is why 53% of people are first of all turn to the Internet to find the information they need, and only 4 people out of 10 will try to remember their own first response to an urgent question. Moreover, once the data are found, not many (about 40%) will try to remember them, and every fifth user will use the information received and successfully forget it.
In this regard, it is not surprising that 91% of Russian Internet users said in addition to their memory and brain, and even this figure is 11 percentage points higher than among European users who participated in a similar study previously.
"The Internet and the availability of digital devices transform our thinking, people are quick to forget the information that they think is always at their fingertips - on the web or phone. Of course, it is convenient and much exactly in the spirit of the time. However, high technology is not only enrich and facilitate our lives; in the absence of proper protection of valuable user data and memories can be lost forever because of the large number of cyber threats that exist today. That is why we in the "Kaspersky Lab" are constantly working hard to understand what the user is expensive, and give him the opportunity of protecting your digital world", - said Yuri Namestnikov, antivirus experts of "Kaspersky Lab".
