World history: The exhibition “Cosmonauts: Birth of the Space Age” in London

The exhibition “Cosmonauts: Birth of the Space Age”, which is opened in the London Museum of Science on September 18, 2015, presents revolutionary space exhibits accompanied by works of art from the collections of Russian museums.

“The exhibition is an unprecedented, the first in the West, dedicated to the exploration of outer space exclusively in the USSR and Russia. It features objects, which are traditionally kept at the enterprises of our space industry, and are not available to a wide audience”, - said curator of the project Natalia Sidlina.

Visitors will see equipment of Russian cosmonauts, as well as space travel equipment and others.

According to organizers of the project, for the first time such a large-scale meeting will be presented outside the Russian borders.

Technical exhibits at the exhibition supplement works of art, the authors of who were inspired by space exploration. In addition, it will be possible to see manuscripts of scientists, who thought about space exploration almost a half-century ago. The guests will also be presented drawings by Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. The great scientist drew them in his manuscripts. They were provided by several dozens of museums. In addition, the guests will see the world’s fist drawing executed in orbit. Its author is Alexei Leonov, who made the first spacewalk.
