
Information technology and culture: Rare documents of the Institute of Language, Literature and Art of Tatarstan to be digitized
In the Center of the written and the musical heritage of the G. Ibragimov Institute of Language, Literature and Art (IJALI) of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan began to digitize documents on a planetary scanner ELAR PlanScan A1B.
Center for Translation and musical heritage IJALI is the custodian of a large number of rare documents - more than three thousand incunabula and more than eight thousand manuscripts in Arabic, Persian and Turkic languages. "We have already started to scan for new hardware early printed materials", - says the head of the Center, candidate of philological sciences Ilham Gumerov. According to him, the digital copies of the documents are for internal use by specialists of the Institute, and for a wider range of researchers and professionals. "We plan to create an electronic resource on the Internet, where these documents will be made publicly available. In addition, we plan to provide virtual access to the periodicals of the early XX century, which we also expect to scan", - said Ilham Gumerov.
