
The Year of Literature in Russia-2015: The exhibition “Mikhail Sholokhov. Nobel rise” in Rostov-on-Don
November 20, 2015 in the "Sholokhov Center" of the M. A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve in Rostov-on-Don starts working the exhibition "Mikhail Sholokhov. Nobel rise". This exhibition is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of awarding the writer the Nobel Prize in literature for his novel "And Quiet Flows the Don".
The prize was awarded to M. A. Sholokhov by the Swedish Academy in 1965 "in recognition of the artistic power and integrity which he showed in his Don epic about the historical stages of life of the Russian people".
The huge talent of the writer, a deep knowledge of folk life, humanist position allowed him to say a new word in the history of world literature, open new paths of artistic knowledge of the world and man. Sholokhov saw his duty to speak frankly with the reader, to strengthen faith in human hearts in the future. His authority as a truly national writer is very large, and in life he was accompanied by a huge reader interest, and worldwide recognition.
The main objective of the exhibition - open on the basis of materials from the collections of the Museum-Preserve the most important moments of the biography of Sholokhov and remind visitors of the events of 50 years ago, which were sealed by another black-and-white photographic film. A special place in the exhibition is an authentic objects dating back to the awarding of the Nobel Prize writer - evening suits of couple Sholokhovs. Visitors will see the exact copy of a diploma and a medal, and newsreel snippets, telling the atmosphere of the ceremony in the Stockholm City Hall.
The exhibition "Mikhail Sholokhov. Nobel rise" will run until December 15, 2015.
