History and culture: The exhibition “Heritage of UNESCO in Veliky Novgorod” opened

The exhibition hall of the Nikolsky Cathedral hosts the exhibition “heritage of UNESCO in Veliky Novgorod”. 

The Novgorod Museum-Reserve has prepared a universal exposition, representing an encyclopedia of art Novgorod of the XI-XIX centuries.

Despite the fact that almost all the ancient monuments of Novgorod and the surrounding area are included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site, such an exhibition is organized for the first time. The exhibition features contemporary color photographs of more than 40 architectural objects, as well as the picturesque decoration of monuments (ancient fresco paintings and icons). The exhibition includes historical and additional illustrations: types of monuments in the late XIX - early XX centuries. (pre-revolutionary postcards, engravings, photographs), species after the Great Patriotic War, reconstruction of graphics.

The exhibition will run until March 14, 2016.
