World history and culture: The exhibition “History, tradition, religion and beliefs of the peoples of the South-Eastern Asia” is opened in Saint-Petersburg

Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Russia in 2016 are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of partnerships. In this regard, 2016 was declared the Year of Russian culture for the countries of the ASEAN, and, accordingly, the Year of ASEAN culture to Russia.

History, traditions, religions and beliefs of the peoples of South East Asia are reflected in the book exhibition, which opened in the reading hall of the Scientific Library of the Museum of the History of Religion (St. Petersburg).

The peoples of South-East region have managed to preserve their ancient culture, beliefs and traditions in the modern world. Being the traditional society, these peoples have preserved many features of the world and way of life that existed centuries ago. Although, of course, at the present stage it was impossible to do without the change and modernization of certain principles of life.

The region is quite complex in terms of the religious composition of the population. This diversity is based on the compact residence of the population of different faiths.
