History and culture: The exhibition “Dedicated to Saint blessed Xenia of Petersburg…”
The exhibition "Dedicated to Saint blessed Xenia of Petersburg" is opened on February 6, 2016 at the State Museum of the History of Religion (St. Petersburg).
The basis of the exhibition is a collection of the famous St. Petersburg art historian, professor of the Russian Academy of Arts N. S. Kuteynikov, which appeared as a result of many years of research and collecting work. Monuments, created mostly by St. Petersburg artists who, get familiar with the icon image of St. Xenia.
The works reflect iconographic search of artists in recent decades. Among them are works of monumental painters, sculptors, masters of arts and crafts, most of which are on display for the first time.
The exhibition is accompanied by photographs associated with the image of St. Xenia and her worship. The exhibition is complemented with books from the collection of the Scientific Library of the museum dedicated to the history of life and the holy deed, the iconography of her image, etc. Of particular interest are the unique pre-revolutionary editions.
