History of Russia: Masterpieces of Soviet photography during the Great Patriotic War are presented at the exhibition in Saint-Petersburg
From April 29 to June 5, 2016 the Art Gallery "KGallery" hosts an exhibition-project "Catch to show…" (Classic of war photography. 1941-1945), which presents masterpieces of Soviet photography during the Great Patriotic War.
For the exhibition in St. Petersburg was selected about 150 selected photographs from the famous collection of Leo and Alexander Borodulin. The project was established in 2015 - year anniversary of the Great Victory and held in the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War.
The collection of the family Borodulins is one of the largest and most expensive in the world of classical collections of Soviet photography, which are rarities by courtesy of the USSR from 1917 to 1991. The authors of the works - the recognized classics in the world of photographic art, such as Eugene Chaldea, Max Alpert, Dmitry Baltermants, Anatoly Morozov and many others.
During the project there was carried out a research work. Curators were looking for a story and the names of the characters literally of every shot. Each photo – is the masterpiece created literally on the verge of life and death. All pictures - originals, many of them - with the author's signature. Some of the pictures are presented to the public for the first time.
