Information technology and museums: The complex of software “History of the fortress of Yam” is presented at the Kingisepp History Museum

Specialists at the St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation (Laboratory of Computer Graphics and Virtual Reality Department of Computer Systems and Networks) completed the trial operation developed in the framework of the program "Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage in Russia" of software complex "History of the fortress of Yam" and a series of informational demonstrations of Kingisepp History Museum.

Museum visitors from April 2016 are provided the opportunity to participate in a virtual group tours of interactive 3D-reconstruction of fortresses or independently to visit them, to play historical 3D-games with the management of character due to the movement of the body in the play area, to get acquainted with the history of Kingisepp materials in a multimedia room, and with the use of a desktop computer and a touch-screen kiosks, and also to get extended information on the collections in the museum building and the adjacent territory, based on augmented reality technology for mobile devices.
