
Society and culture: The exhibition “The Art of Fedoskino miniature” in Kolomenskoye
The exhibition "The Art of Fedoskino miniature" is held from June 17 to October 22, 2016 in the Small Exhibition Hall of the Palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich in Kolomenskoye (Moscow).
Fedoskino lacquer miniature - an ancient craft, it is more than 250 years. It retains the traditional manufacturing techniques of lacquer boxes made of papier-mache. It is based on the classical laminated an oil-based paints. This technique belonged to old masters - Leonardo da Vinci, Karl Briullov and Rubens.
The favorite motives of Fedoskino miniature paintings became popular at the time stories: "three", "tea", scenes from Russian and Little Russian peasant life. The most prized of all cases and caskets decorated complex multi-figure compositions - copies of paintings by Russian and Western European artists.
The exhibition is conventionally divided into several themes: Oriental lacquers of 18-20 centuries in Japan, China, Persia, Myanmar, Vietnam - fancy boxes, panels, furniture, religious objects, made in different techniques. Western European lacquer miniature (18-19 centuries) is represented by three main centers - Britain, France and Germany - the amazing subtlety and elegance of miniature paintings.
The real masterpieces are presented in section of Russian varnishes (Moscow, St. Petersburg, 18-19). It is not only the works of miniature painting, but also the incredible everyday objects made of papier-mache, gone from our lives today: buttons, cufflinks, umbrella handles, table writing utensils, cups, etc.
Almost all the exhibition items are exhibited for the first time, which are more than 800 exhibits.
