Information technology and culture: Virtual branch of the State Russian Museum starts working in the library in Ustyuzhna

Modern equipment that will soon be installed in the Batyushkovs Ustyuzhna District Library (the Vologda region) in autumn 2016 will allow residents and guests of the ancient city on the Mologa River to get remote access to the collection of one of the largest museums in the world - the State Russian Museum, based in St. Petersburg in 1895.

Portal "Virtual Russian Museum" is designed to combine the latest projects of the Russian Museum in the field of information technology. The main part of the portal is an international project "The State Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch", which is being implemented since 2003 and embodies the idea of access to the largest collection of Russian art through the creation of information and educational centers in Russia and abroad. One of these centers will be opened in the Ustyuzhna District Library.
