Museums: The Yekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts hosts the exhibition “Russia. XX century in photographs: 1918-1940”
July 8, the Yekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts as part of the project "FOTOLETO" started its exhibition "Russia. XX century in photographs: 1918-1940". The exhibition consists of a unique joint program of the Moscow Multimedia Art Museum, the Moscow House of Photography "Photo archive of Russian history", which aims to recreate the authentic image of the events and characters of the real historical process.
At the exposition the viewer will be able to see pictures of masters of photography of the first half of the XX century, photogrpahs from the collections of MAMM, the State Archive of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Library, the State Museum of Political History of Russia, the Bakhrushin State Central Museum, the Russian State Archive of Cinema, the Union of Photographers of Russia, as well as private collections and family archives.
The exposition will feature a variety of stories and faces: Emperor Nicholas II and his family in Tobolsk, the Civil War, the birth of Constructivism and Konstantin Melnikov, NEP, Vladimir Mayakovski, Sergei Eisenstein, Leonid Utesov, Mikhail Bulgakov, the construction of the Dnieper, the adoption of the General Plan of Moscow in 1935, the visit to Russia of Bernard Shaw and many more.
The project itself "Photo archive of Russian history" today exists in printed format, as the four-volume edition of "Russia. XX century in photographs" and as a special Internet portal russiainphoto.ru, which was opened on June 12, 2016.
The exhibition "Russia. XX century photographs "will be presented in the exhibition halls of the museum until 7 August.
