Memory of Russia abroad: Exhibition "Osip Mandelstam. Word and destiny", dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the poet, opens in Spain
The Center of Federico García Lorca in the Spanish city of Granada September 9, 2016 will open the exhibition "Osip Mandelstam. Word and destiny", dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the poet.
Previously, it was exhibited at the Cultural Center by Friedrich Ebert in Heidelberg (Germany), which caused a wide resonance.
The exposition - books, manuscripts, documents, memorial items related to the life and work of Mandelstam, from the funds of the State Literary Museum, as well as a number of major archives, libraries and Russian museums and private collections.
Among the rarities - manuscripts and documents from the University of Heidelberg, where Mandelstam studied, as well as copies of documents from the KGB archives, which had not previously been demonstrated to the general public. Also for the first time it demonstrates the sofa of his office V. B. Shklovsky, where Mandelstam slept, edition of "The Divine Comedy" by Dante, owned by the wife of the poet Nadezhda Mandelstam.
The project is part of the European program "UNESCO city of Literature", which involves Heidelberg and Granada.
The exhibition "Osip Mandelstam. Word and destiny" is prepared by the State Literary Museum, together with Mandelstam society. The exposition will be open until 6 November.
