World culture: The exhibition “Knight of the Sorrowful Countenance”. To the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes” in Saint-Petersburg

In 2016, the world celebrates the 400th anniversary of the death of the brilliant Spanish writer, author of the immortal works - the novel "The Ingenious Hidalgo Don Quixote de la Mancha" (1605-1615).

To the great work of the world literature and his ingenious creator is dedicated the passing till September 11, 2016 the exhibition "Knight of the Sorrowful Countenance". The 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes" in the Museum of the History of Religion (St. Petersburg). At the exhibition visitors can explore the features of the interpretation of the image of the immortal gentleman typical for artists of different eras - from the XVII to XXI century.

The exhibition includes exhibits from the collection of the Museum of the History of Religion and private collections - Western European paintings and drawings of XVII-XX centuries, the works of Salvador Dali and Moldovan artist Ilya Bogdesko, sculptor Ilya Ginzburg, rare editions of the novel. Totally unique exhibition complex - the original costumes and other details of props, costume workshops provided by the film studio "Lenfilm", preserved from the time of filming the famous film Grigory Kozintsev's "Don Quixote" as well.
