Languages of the World: The European Day of Languages is celebrated in Bratislava

September 26, 2016 in Bratislava (Slovakia) on one of the main squares of the city is held the European Day of Languages, which takes place on the initiative of the Council of Europe for 16 years. The main purpose of the event is to support the motivation of Europeans to learn foreign languages, not only in school and university, but also throughout life.

Traditionally, the main event of the festival was the action called "Street language", which took place under the open sky.

Cultural institutions from 18 European countries put up their stands with information material about the language and culture of the country and the formation of learning opportunities. The "Street language" is attended by cultural institutions from Austria, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Hungary, Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and the Nordic countries (Sweden, Finland, Denmark), Romania, France and Croatia.

European Fund for Slavic Literature and Culture and Russian center took part in the event at the Russian stand together with the Russian center of science and culture.
