
History of Russia abroad: Exhibition "The Imperial family. The Way of Love" in Vitebsk
September 13, 2016 an exhibition of "The Imperial family. The Way of Love" dedicated the last Russian tsar was opened at the Vitebsk Art Museum. The stands are more than hundreds of photos and copies of paintings by famous artists, which are accompanied by the documents, records from the diaries and memoirs of contemporaries. The exhibition was prepared, using the Russian State archive materials, as well as private collections of the inhabitants of Mogilev, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Yekaterinburg, and Chrysostom.
The exhibition was created with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Sophronius, Bishop of Mogilev and Mstislav, several anniversaries - the 100th anniversary of the organization in Mogilev Supreme Commander of Russian troops and the 100th anniversary of the execution of the royal family. Having been in many cities of Russia and Belarus, the exhibition first came to Vitebsk.
One of the stands is dedicated to the stay of the royal family in Vitebsk. History shows that in December 1914 the Russian Emperor rode through the city. October 30, 1915, Nicholas II made a stop here to spend inspection 78th Infantry Division.
In February 1916, the tsar also toured Vitebsk on a sunny day, what left a note in his diary about.
May 8, 1915 is already the Empress Alexandra Feodorovna with children stopped for a couple of hours in Vitebsk. They visited St. Nicholas Cathedral, and then visited four hospitals, visited one of the stores in his palace. "The city is very beautiful from the bridge", - left the Empress an entry in the diary.
According to organizers, the main purpose of the exhibition is to demonstrate the desire spirituality of the family of Nicholas II and their example to show a sample of love, purity, relationships, a sample of Christian family life and proper upbringing of children.
