The Presidential Library: New acquisitions

The Presidential Library collection has been enriched with video lectures presented within the framework of the educational project of the Presidential Library "video lecture "Knowledge of Russia"".

- Video lecture "Russian historians and the Russian Historical Society", dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the foundation of society.

Lecture of the senior researcher of the National Library of Russia, the candidate of historical sciences D. N. Shilov Grand Duke Nikolai Mikhailovich - Chairman of the Imperial Russian Historical Society (43 min. 42 sec.) is devoted to the last Chairman of the IIS, his life, scientific works and projects, as well as his role in the development of Russian historical science.

Researcher of the Institute of Russian History, Ph.D. D. G. Dityatkin in his lecture dedicated to the Imperial Russian Historical Society (38 min. 01 sec.) spoke about the development and results of the activities of the organization. Students learned about all the founders and chairmen of the society, about how to create a multi-volume "Compendium of the Imperial Russian Historical Society" and "Russian Biographical Dictionary".

Lecture of the executive secretary of the regional branch of the Russian Historical Society in St. Petersburg, scientific secretary of the Presidential Library, candidate of historical sciences E. B. Gruznova is dedicated to the Main activities of the Russian Historical Society (34 min. 32 sec.), reconstituted on June 20, 2012 based on the Imperial Russian historical society. The lecturer spoke about the projects implemented by the Company "Electronic Museum of the Constitutional history of Russia", "The German documents. Digitized collection", "Card file of loss during the First World War" about working with publishers of history textbooks for schools to conduct the Company of various conferences, exhibitions, presentations of historical subjects.

- Video lecture "From the history of Russia of 1920s"

Doctor of historical sciences, professor, director of the scientific-educational center "Cultural and historical studies" of the South Ural State University I. V. Narsky in the lecture Did NEP exist in the Russian province? The hard way out of the civil war in the Urals in the early 1920's years (89 min 05 sec.) Discloses one of the dramatic pages of Russian history. The lecturer noted that the forced change of the official exchange rate in the country, aimed at overcoming the threatening paralysis of all spheres of life, the transition from "war communism" to free trade (NEP), brought only the illusion of improved living standards.

Lecture of Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Modern History of Russia of the St. Petersburg State Institute of History M. V. Hodyakov is devoted to the History of monetary circulation in Soviet Russia of the 1920s (75 min. 35 sec.). In the years of revolution and civil war in the vast expanses of the former Russian Empire in the course it was to 20 thousand kinds of different banknotes. Money that time was produced not only by the authorities in the person first of the tsar and the time, and then the Soviet government, but also the generals Denikin, Wrangel, Yudenich, Admiral Kolchak, Ataman Semyonov, Hetman Skoropadsky, Petlyura, Makhno, and many other large and small rulers of Russia. Money at the time served as a kind of manifesto of a government that was reflected in the symbolism of the images on the banknotes. Lecturer is a motley picture of emission policy of the central government and many military and civilian governments of Russia.  

In a lecture titled Unknown Dzerzhinsky (115 min. 31 sec.) the Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of Modern History Institute of History of the St. Petersburg State University I. S. Ratkovsky tells about the life and work of a statesman.

- Video lecture "History of railways in Russia" is dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the decree on the construction of the Tsarskoye Selo railway and the 125th anniversary of the start of construction of the Siberian Railway in Russia.

Associate Professor of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation, the G. R> Derzhavin Tambov State University, the Candidate of Historical Sciences R. B. Konchakov in the lecture Train rushes in the open field: the beginning of railway construction in Russia (30 min. 38 sec.) spoke about the premises the construction of railways in Russia, the first of the Tsarskoye Selo railway, which was built from St. Petersburg to Tsarskoye Selo, the construction of railways, continued under Alexander II during the Great reforms of 1860-1870, as well as about the impact of, which had a degree of the railway network on the economy, social situation and the position of all population groups in the country.

Senior Researcher of the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk) S. K. Cannes in his lecture Stanovoi Russian Ridge (Trans-Siberian project and the development of Siberia) (31 min. 01 sec.) spoke about the different aspects of design and construction of the Trans-Siberian railway in the late XIX - early XX centuries, about the study and development of Siberia activities of the Siberian railway. 

- Video lecture "Russia and space: history of development"

Researcher of astrophysical directions of the Main (Pulkovo) Astronomical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Y. N. Gnedin in the lecture Achievements of modern astronomy: a new breakthrough in fundamental science (46 min. 18 sec.) described the modern understanding of the space is and the basic principles of modern science. 

The writer, journalist, member of the Writers' Union of St. Petersburg A. I. Pervushin in the lecture 106 minutes of Yuri Gagarin: declassified details of the first space flight (29 min. 23 sec.) revealed previously unknown details of Yuri Gagarin's feat and development of space industry in the USSR in 1960s (About the flight and landing of Gagarin, the "Vostok" spacecraft descent module, a secret report astronaut and many other things).

Adviser of the K. E. Tsiolkovsky Russian Academy of Cosmonautics, a member of the Union of Journalists in Moscow, Methodist of the Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics S. A. Gerasyutin in his lecture the International Space Station - an orbital construction of the century (23 min. 44 sec.) described how and when the ideas of science fiction works and projects orbital stations appeared, who were their authors, differed flights of manned spacecraft and space stations when the first flight on the international program is created and what elements is the ISS, which experiments are carried out on the ISS, which gave humanity the ISS and what operation prospects for its use.   

- Vidolecture "Russian Ballet School: Tradition and Modernity", dedicated to the 135th anniversary of the birth of the greatest ballerinas Anna Pavlova of the XX century and the 80th anniversary of People's Artist of the USSR Maris-Rudolf-Liepa.

Lecture of the ballet dancer and the ballet teacher, People's Artist of Russia, Rector of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet N. M. Tsiskaridze Russian ballet school: tradition and modernity (110 min. 01 sec.) is dedicated to the unique traditions of the Russian school of ballet and modern trends of ballet education. The lecturer talked about the methods of training future ballet dancers’ features of teaching the art of ballet, how talented boys are selected. Students learned about the problems of legal regulation of the educational process, about what is worth fighting for in the system of ballet education, its development prospects.
