History and culture: Exhibition "Dmitry Ushakov. The ascetic of the Russian word" in Moscow
September 30, 2016 in the Children's Library № 155 for the Southern District of Moscow was opened an exhibition "Dmitry Ushakov. The ascetic of the Russian word" prepared by the Main Archive Department of Moscow.
Unique archival documents, paintings and photographs, presented in the exhibition, will tell visitors about the life and work of the famous linguist and teacher Dmitry Ushakov.
Being a true enthusiast and a real devotee of Russian words Ushakov comprehensively studied the dialects of the native language, traveled to scientific expeditions, 12 "Proceedings Dialectological Commission" volumes were published under his editorship.
The exhibition presents for the first time rare documents from the funds of the Central State Archive of Moscow - drawings of the famous philologist, transmitted by his daughter Natalia Arkhangelskaya. These are mainly landscapes with views of suburban estates in the technique of watercolor.
The sections of the exhibition, telling about the main periods of the life and activity of the outstanding scientist, exhibited his autographs, scientific and methodical work, portraits of his parents and his grandfather - Dmitry Novsky, Archpriest of the Big Assumption Cathedral in the Kremlin, who brought his grandson in a friendly family atmosphere and imaginative Russian speech replacing his father died early, a talented doctor-ophthalmologist Nikolai Ushakov.
The exhibition will run until October 30, 2016.
