International events: Exhibition "Mexico and Russia. Plexus" in Moscow
The Gallery "Sermon" of the Association "Showrooms of Moscow" with the participation of the Mexican Embassy in Russia till January 22, 2017 opens the exhibition "Mexico and Russia. Plexus", representing the diversity of Mexican traditions, interesting facts about the history and culture of the country.
The exhibition is held within the framework of the international program of cultural exchange between Russia and Mexico. A unique collection of arts and crafts of the Mexican state of Yucatan: authentic national clothing, accessories, photos, videos and art works of young designers from Moscow State University of Design and Technology will be the conductors in interweaving of images and symbols of cultures of the two countries - Russia and Mexico.
The exposition consists of three independent parts, dating back to the traditions and the modern incarnation of fashion, art and culture of Mexico, as well as the interaction of cultures of both countries. The first part is devoted to the national way of life of Mexicans, their traditional clothing and accessories. The second part of the exhibition introduces viewers to the documentary photographs and films, allowing you in the format of "siesta" to learn about the peculiarities of Mexican culture, and everyday life. The third part - the space of works by young artists, designers, acting as catalysts for the traditional, based on mythology, Mexico image and synonymy in Russian culture.
The exhibition project provides a rich program of activities designed both for adults and children's audience. In the gallery is created a special interactive area for children where everyone can explore and create their own map of Mexican artifacts. A key object of this space is the installation in the form of a pyramid of Kukulkan - one of the most significant architecture of Mayan on the Yucatan Peninsula.
