Internet and History: The virtual exhibition "Brezhnev" within the series "Leaders of the Soviet era"

The Federal Archival Agency presents a virtual exhibition of "Brezhnev" to the 110th anniversary of the Soviet state and party leader Leonid Brezhnev, who took senior management positions in the USSR, which continues a series of exhibitions under the historical-documentary series "The leaders of the Soviet era".    

The virtual exhibition includes 408 papers (more than seven hundred electronic images) and images of museum objects from Russian archives and museums, foundations, including the State Archive of the Russian Federation.

Virtual exhibition is an online version of the historical and documentary exhibition "Brezhnev. To the 109th anniversary", which was running from December 18, 2015 February 28, 2016 in the Exhibition Hall of the Federal Archives.

The structure of the exhibition corresponds to the main stages of the life and work of Brezhnev in close connection with historical events, a direct participant he was. The party and government documents signed by Brezhnev are presented; verbatim records of meetings of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the Central Committee, in which he took part; his business correspondence; recording of conversations with the heads of foreign states; speaking at meetings with representatives of state and public organizations; its performance record; numerous photos, etc. Most of the documents - originals, never published or exhibited. The exhibition also included personal belongings by Brezhnev; items related to the different stages of his operations; books, pamphlets, records.

At the heart of the exhibition - unique assets of the Russian State Archive of Contemporary History, which include not only the personal archive of Brezhnev, but the most important documents of the Politburo and the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the CPSU, materials of CPSU Central Committee departments, reports, notes on the key issues of the Soviet authorities, documents to be sent the Central Committee as the citizens of the USSR, and foreign nationals.
