Memorable dates of Russia: The exhibition to the 75th anniversary of the formation of women's aviation regiments in Moscow

January 25, 2017 at the Museum of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia (Moscow) was opened the exhibition ""Swallows" in the frontline sky" to the 75th anniversary of the formation of women's aviation regiments.

During the Great Patriotic War, more than 800 thousand Soviet women in arms came to the defense of their country. Forming unique in world history military units - female air regiments - began in the days of the Battle of Moscow on the initiative and under the guidance of well-known pilot - Hero of the Soviet Union Marina Raskova. Her baptism the fire regiments took in 1942.

Documents, letters and pictures introduce to life at the front and the exploits of famous Soviet pilots E. V. Ryabova, M. P. Chechneva, I. V. Rakobolskaya, K. P. Karpunina, E. Y. Rachkevich. The exhibition presents examples of uniform, equipment and personal belongings pilots, navigators, technicians and other personnel who have proved their courage and professionalism.

The exhibition is open till March 12, 2017.
