Society and Book Culture: The exhibition of book illustrations for the works of Alexander Pushkin "And thoughts and deeds…" in Saint-Petersburg
Within the framework of socio-educational program "Continuity" at the Institute of Russian Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences (the Pushkin House), St. Petersburgm is presented the art exhibition "And thoughts and deeds…".
This solo exhibition of the well-known graphic Artur Nikitin, living in Latvia, is a retrospective look at the history of the fine arts of the Soviet period, a special reading of literary texts of Pushkin, Lermontov, Bulgakov in the author's interpretation of the artist.
The exhibition was opened in memory day of Alexander Pushkin. It is for this reason that already in the title "And thoughts and deeds…", it refers us to a series of figurative, prompted by a string of Lermontov, "On the death of Pushkin", a poem dedicated to the tragic death of Alexander. The exhibition features 40 works. A significant part of them is book illustration, including many of Pushkin's works, as well as portraits of contemporaries of Pushkin's inner circle.
