Konstantinovsky battalion in Sevastopol will be open for tourists in the beginning of the tourist season 2017 and it will house the headquarters of the department of Russian Geographical Society and museum expositions.

Restoration of the Konstantinovsky battalion in 2015 was started by the Russian Geographical Society.

Until March 31 it is scheduled to complete most of the work on the upgrade and the start of entering the facility. The ground floor will house an exhibition center for underwater exploration, the expedition center and Sevastopol branch of the Russian Geographical Society.

Konstantinovsky battalion was founded by the Russian commander Alexander Suvorov in 1794 to repel the attacks of enemy ships at the entrance to Sevastopol bay. The battalion protected the city against enemy attacks during the first defense of Sevastopol in 1854-55 and the siege of the city by German and Romanian troops in 1941-42.
