Information technology and museums: Virtual museum will tell of the culture of the peoples of Sakhalin and Kuril islands

The Sakhalin Regional Museum has presented a virtual museum "National Culture of Sakhalin and the Kuril islands of the XIX-XX centuries". It combines three types of fund representation: the website, the catalog of museum exhibits and a multimedia show.

The subjects and the period are due to the historical development of the Sakhalin region. The virtual museum not only shows the material and spiritual culture of the peoples of Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands, but also integrates the funds of museums in the region, providing greater access to them.

To children’s audience it is added the heading "Game room" (online games). The virtual museum is not finally completed - in the future it will be continued the update of the website with photographic images from the funds of state and municipal museums in the Sakhalin region. In addition, the website functionality will be expanded.
