Information technology and museums: The multimedia exhibition "Byzantium in the third dimension: Vatican, Italy and Russia" at the State Russian Museum

From 4 to 23 March 2017 the State Russian Museum and the Association of Cities of the Byzantine successors invite to the multimedia exhibition "Byzantium in the third dimension: Vatican, Italy and Russia".

The exhibition presents for the first time 25 of 3D-models of masterpieces from Italy, the Vatican and Russia, which are shown on special screens and plasmas, text materials, as well as a mobile application "Virtual Museum of Byzantine Heritage - MuByz".

The Museum MuByz gathered in its three-dimensional collection the most important works of Byzantine architecture. 3D-collection includes both works of art that influenced the emergence and formation of Christian art since the Byzantine era masterpieces and works created later.

Especially for this project it is made 3D-model of the exhibit "Cross-encolpion. The front flap. Crucifixion of Christ. Virgin Orans. XII - the first half of the XIII century" from the collection of the State Russian Museum.

The exhibition is held in the Multimedia Center (West Hall of the Mikhailovsky Castle).
