In 2017, the State Hermitage prepared a large-scale project for the 100th anniversary of the revolution under the general title "Storming the Winter Palace". A special feature of this project is the exhibition-quest-point exhibitions, which are opened throughout the year in various places of the museum. All the expositions of the exhibition-quest are marked with a special logo.
From 1830 to 1917, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Empire run in the Eastern Wing of the General Staff. The exhibition tells about the last days of these two ministries, the exposition presents rare archival photographs of the events of 1917-1918.
The chronicle at the exhibition is finished with information about the famous film by Sergei Mikhailovich Eisenstein "October", filmed in 1927. The Arch of the General Staff was one of the sites for the location of the film crew, as can be seen in the photograph that captured the working moment.
