
Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Russia has become the reader of the Presidential Library
As part of the participation in the North-West Media Forum, which is taking place in St. Petersburg from October 25 to 26, the Presidential Library was visited by Vladimir Solovyov, chairman of the Union of Journalists of Russia. The professional creative organization headed by him in November 2018 celebrates the 100th anniversary, and by the anniversary date the first national electronic library of Russia handed over to the “main journalist of the country” unique documents: the message of the Trade Union of Journalists and the United Unions Bureau about the organization of unions the publication of a leaflet or brochure "From the Bureau of the Union of Russian Writers". On decisions of the first congress of Russian journalists, which was held from 5 to 8 April 1905 in St. Petersburg". These materials will be used in education, information work of the Union of Journalists of Russia, while preparing anniversary events.
In the course of the visit, it was decided to conclude an agreement between the Union of Journalists of Russia and the Presidential Library. It will make it possible to more actively connect media editorial offices to the information resources of the Presidential Library, to organize joint educational projects aimed at the ability of young correspondents to work with historical documents. According to Vladimir Solovyov, the use of the Presidential Library’s capabilities in the information space will provide broad prospects for effective interaction. The chairman of the Union of Journalists of Russia also highly appreciated the transparency of the Presidential Library and its commitment to direct dialogue with press and society. Vladimir Solovyov was given an electronic library card that allows him using resources of the Presidential Library in any reading room in Russia and abroad. Today, such opportunities are open in more than 750 centers of remote access to the Presidential Library’s collection.
