Leningrad Region preparing for the new academic year

The budget of Leningrad Region provides for 3.7 billion rubles for the preparation of educational institutions in the region for the new academic year, of which 2 billion rubles for the upgrading of facilities and training equipment. In addition, in 2019, more than 2 billion rubles will be spent on the construction of new schools and kindergartens, which will be open in many areas of the region.

This was announced by the Governor of Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko in the Presidential Library on the eve of a meeting of the Pedagogical Council of Leningrad Region “National Project “Education”: Strategy for the Future”. The event brought together 450 specialists - education and science professionals. More than 20,000 people joined the event online: the meeting of the pedagogical council was broadcasted live on the Presidential Library’s portal.

It was also noted that today more than 22 thousand teachers were an important strategic resource of the education system of Leningrad Region.

The head of Rosobrnadzor Sergey Kravtsov at the meeting of the teacher's council thanked the teachers of the region: “Organization of the educational system in Leningrad Region gives a consistently high result - both in urban and rural, remote schools”, - he said.

The meeting of the Regional Pedagogical Council was focused on national projects. Currently, the education system of Leningrad Region has launched 14 regional projects: ten in the framework of the national project "Education", three - in the national project "Science" and one - in the national project "Demography". 

“We have chosen innovation-based development and the serious purposes allow making advanced education system stronger”, - said the Governor of Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko.

Chairman of the Committee for General and Professional Education of Leningrad Region Sergey Tarasov paid special attention to the implementation of the national projects “Education” and “Science”: “Their goals and content reflect the needs and expectations of our citizens. National projects are built around a person in order to achieve a higher quality of life”.

He highlighted the key task in the implementation of national projects - this is the education of a harmoniously developed and socially responsible person based on the spiritual and moral values ​​of the peoples of Russia, historical and national-cultural traditions. First of all, it is necessary to solve the problem of involving children and youth in transformative activities, during which the basic positive qualities of the personality are formed. Of course, a personal example of not only educators, but also other significant adults is important.

The Governor of Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko, in turn, underlined the need to maintain and develop school sports, the system of vocational training and education. “There are no bad children, there are bad teachers. Not everyone is lucky with parents”, - said the head of the region. 

The meeting was attended by Chairman of Leningrad Region Legislative Assembly Sergey Bebenin, chief federal inspector for the Leningrad region of the Office of the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-West Federal District Tatyana Lukaushkina, director of the Department of State Policy in the field of assessing the quality of general education also participated in the meeting of the pedagogical council of the Leningrad Region in the Presidential Library. Leningrad Region includes 363 comprehensive schools, 336 kindergartens, 99 organizations of additional professional education, 2 higher education organizations, 26 secondary professional organizations.

The planned number of students in secondary schools as of September 1, 2019 will be 159 719 people (5.5 thousand more than last year), including 20 thousand first-graders.

More than 3.7 billion rubles have been allocated for preparing educational institutions of Leningrad Region for the new academic year, of which 2.04 billion rubles are for strengthening the material and technical base and equipping with educational equipment.

For the construction of new schools and kindergartens in 2019, 2.057 billion rubles, including 229.4 million from the federal budget are provided.

September 1, 2019, a new school for 350 pupils in Voznesenie settlement of Podporozhsky district will be open.

863.9 million rubles were planned, including 775.12 million rubles from the regional budget were allocated for the renovation of schools in 2019.

September 1, 2019, five schools will be open after renovation: Shumilovskaya secondary school in Priozersky district, Krasnoborsk secondary school in Tosno district, secondary school № 6 of Vyborg, Lomonosov secondary school № 3, secondary school № 2 of Luga.
