12 February 2020

As part of the Decade of Childhood program, employees of the Regional Center of Access to Resources of the Presidential Library at the Lermontov Penza Regional Library, gave a unique book lesson for students of school № 67 in Penza. At the beginning of the lesson, the children learned about the possibilities of the electronic reading room of the Presidential Library, found materials about the first printing yard in Moscow and found out that the first printed edition of the liturgical text “Apostle” appeared in Russia in 1564.

While watching films about the creation of manuscript and printed books of past centuries, young readers became familiar with professional book terminology. Children managed to find all the complex lexical names hidden in the rows of letters from the ancient alphabet.

The program of an unusual lesson also included a physical education, which became a surprise for students. Schoolchildren depicted metal letters, shown in mirror image, which were used to print pages of paper books.

Penza Region: Pages of History collection is available on the Presidential Library’s portal. It includes archival documents, essays, studies and statistical materials which spotlight the demographic, geographical, socio-economic, socio-political and other aspects of the history of the Penza region of the late XVIII - first third of the XX century.
