Location: From a private collection. - On the souvenir badge there is a monument to the "Young Heroes of the Defense of the City of Lenin", located in the Tauride Garden of St. Petersburg. October 10, 1962 in Leningrad, in the Tarvic Garden was opened a monument to the heroes who defended the city during the Great Patriotic War. It is unusual because it was the first monument dedicated not to adult defenders, but to very young boys and girls, almost children who showed courage in the defense of their native city. The initiative to create the monument was made by students of school No. 57 of the Zhdanovsky district of Leningrad. Those who during the war were 12-14 years old, extinguished the "lighters" in besieged Leningrad, were on duty in military hospitals, cleaned the snow on the streets, helped the families of the soldiers. A whole group of specialists worked on the creation of the monument: a relief composition made of sandstone was made by sculptors Viktor Novikov and Ivan Kostyukhin, and the general project of the building was the architects Philippe Gepner and Alexander Alymov. The stele depicts a dilapidated wall. In the monolithic stone, the stelae cut down a sculptural composition of four figures of pioneers. Over the relief burned the text: "Young heroes of the defense of the city of Lenin." On the back of the monument: "To the courage, the will of the brave, to the heroes of all the heroic pioneers who are devoted to them, this monument will be erected by Lenin's young hands"
