At the beginning of 1812, the Pskov Infantry Regiment, commanded by Lyapunov, was a member of the 1st Brigade of the 7th Infantry Division in the 6th Infantry Corps of the 1st Western Army. He fought under Smolensk (the golden sword "For Bravery"), under Borodin (rank of Major-General November 21, 1812), and February 15, 1813 awarded the Order of St. George 3rd Class.
