In the beginning of 1812 h. The Izmaylovo Regiment, commanded by Khrapovitsky, was part of the 2nd Brigade of the Guards Infantry Division in the 5th reserve (guards) corps of the 1st Western Army. A month later he became commander of the Guards Brigade, with whom he defended Semenovskie heights in the Borodino field.
