The Battle of Gangut — in the historical sources of the Presidential Library
August 7 marks the 303 years since the Battle of Gangut — one of the most significant victories of the Russian Navy, having influenced a strengthening of Russia's status as a naval power. The Presidential Library stock is regularly added with historical documents, maps, books and public video appearances that help to understand the geopolitical meaning of the occurred more than three hundred years ago events.
The events of the XXVI International Financial Congress STARTED in the Presidential Library
The first event of the day will be a plenary session chaired by the Chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation Elvira Nabiullina, devoted to the main theme of the Congress "Finance for Development". There will also be a dialogue between the head of the Bank of Russia and the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin. Round tables, which will address the issues of increasing a financial literacy of the population, innovations in the infrastructure of financial market and many others, will be held at the forum site.

On the screen a participant of the expedition Joseph Coleman, who was a member of the PQ-17 caravan (ship Bolton Castle), explains: “After the German reconnaissance aircraft discovered our ships, we waited for an attack. Living Environment of contemporary men will be studied within a multimedia competition of the Presidential Library
In 2017 the Presidential Library once again calls to join the “Foreign View” International Annual Multimedia Competition. This year the library for the first time beside photographs accepts for the competition videos. That way the chances to contribute into creation of the national electronic fund are growing. Acceptance of works for the competition, which this year will be held for the eighth time, begins on July 3 - at the period of holidays, vacations and effective travels. The marketing project of the Presidential Library received international recognition at the IFLA competition
Following the results of the International Competition of Library Marketing Projects held by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) in 2017, a project of the Presidential Library named “Look / Read / Listen” was included into the top ten best projects in the world.

The centers of access to the resources of the Presidential Library abroad are being expanded
Today, June 20, 2017, the Presidential Library opened another remote electronic reading room in Germany. It is located on the basis of the German-Russian Institute of Culture in Dresden and was the third in this country: two access centers are successfully operating in Berlin and Munich.
The results of the International Antarctic Expedition were resumed in the Presidential Library
Joint scientific researches of the Antarctic territory play an important role in the development of the Polar region. This was announced at the conference entitled “Science Without Boundary: Swiss Polar Research and Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition,” which took place in the Presidential Library. It summed up the results of the international Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE), which was working around Antarctica from December 20, 2016, to March 20, 2017.
