The photo depicts a monument at the grave of senior sergeant Grigory Isaevich Pozhy, who died in battles with fascist invaders in 1943. It is a sculpture of a soldier kneeling on his knee and holding an automaton and a helmet in his hands. The sculpture is mounted on a square pedestal. On August 3, 1943, the Belgorod-Kharkov operation of the troops of the Voronezh and Steppe fronts of the Soviet army began. Fulfilling the task of encircling the units of 48 German Corps in Borisovka, the 67th Guards Rifle Division, having broken through the enemy's front, seized the village of Akulinovka and went to the northern outskirts of Borisovka. During the liberation of Akulinovka, on August 6, Sergeant Grigory Isaevich Pozh was killed. The soldier was buried by the inhabitants in the center of the village. In 1969, a monument was erected on the grave of a soldier. In the 1990s, near the monument were placed marble plaques with the surnames of the victims of the war in the village of Akulinovka .
