The photo shows a monument on the mass grave of the defenders of the Polar region, who died during the Great Patriotic War, located at the entrance to the city Polar in 100 m from a check point. The monument is a composition of three high bayonets, a five-pointed star is attached to the central bayonet. The composition is mounted on a concrete pedestal, in the center of which there is a memorial plate with a memorable inscription: "You can not teach to love the living, if you can not keep the memory of the dead." Marshal Rokossovsky, on both sides of the plate - sea anchors. Remains of 126 soldiers of the 14th Army and the Northern Fleet were found by members of the search group "Memory" of the city of Polar on the battlefields in the Arctic. They were reburied on October 5, 1993. The monument was opened on May 9, 1994. Authors of the project: artist I. D. Rozhkov, commander of the search group "Pamyat" K. A. Dobrovolsky, S. A. Baranov .
