Alexander Herzen, an outstanding Russian writer, philosopher and revolutionary, was born on April 6, 1812. The digital collections of the Presidential Library contain many copies of rare materials - belonging both to the pen of Herzen himself and to the researchers of his career and personality. A significant part of these publications is available on the institution's portal.

Nikolai Vasilyevich Korneychukov (Chukovsky’s name) was born in St. Petersburg on March 31, 1882 in an unlawful marriage of the maid Katerina Korneychukova and the son of the owner, medical student Emanuel Levenson. Shortly after the birth of a son, the young man married a woman of his circle. A mother with two children had to leave, and the writer’s childhood passed in Odessa.

One of the largest offensive operations of the Soviet Army against the forces of Nazi Germany called ‘Bagration’ was launched 75 years ago - on June 23, 1944. Belorussia, Eastern Poland and part of the Baltics were completely liberated as a result of the operation. It put an end to Hitler’s plans to conquer the USSR and strengthened the belief of our people that they were close to victory.

The Presidential Library has posted on its portal a digitized copy of a unique document - a manuscript score of the Seventh (“Leningrad”) Symphony by Dmitry Shostakovich, the original of which is stored in the music library of the Radio House. The project became possible thanks to the interaction of the National Media Group and the Presidential Library in the field of preserving the historical memory, inextricably linked to the annals of the Leningrad Radio.
