Anniversary of the expedition of “Taimyr” and “Vaigach” icebreakers. Discovery of Severnaya Zemlya

22 August (4 September), 1913 the expedition of icebreakers Taimyr and Vaigach led by Boris A. Vilkitsky discovered Land of Nicholas II (Severnaya Zemlya) and the island of Tsarevich Alexei (Maly Taimyr).
22 августа (4 сентября) 1913 г. экспедиция на ледоколах «Таймыр» и «Вайгач» под руководством Бориса... Таймыр).
Гидрографическая экспедиция Северного Ледовитого океана (ГЭСЛО) была сформирована... на Невском заводе в Петербурге в 1909 г. два транспорта ледокольного типа — «Таймыр» и «Вайгач... во Владивосток. Сразу же начались исследовательские работы. Первый поход «Таймыр» и «Вайгач... и Чукотские моря. В 1912 г. «Таймыр» и «Вайгач» прошли на запад до бухты Тикси. March 16, 2018 the exhibition "The expanses of Russia in the color photography of Sergei Prokudin-Gorsky" which already visited last autumn Frankfurt, Berlin and Dresden and was a great success was opened in Leipzig. The exposition presents 40 of more than two thousand photographs stored in the electronic collections of the Presidential Library.
