Sergei Kirov: “…I want to live long”

95 years ago, on December 1, 1934, at 16:30, the first secretary of the Leningrad regional committee and city committee of the CPSU (b) Sergei Mironovich Kirov was killed in the back of his office in Smolny. Unknown materials of the life of this Soviet statesman and politician are available in the Presidential Library’s collections. They are memories of people close to him - a personal driver and a cook; photographs; unique books, including those edited by Lavrentiy Beria.

An exhibition of digitized materials from the collections of the National Pushkin Museum is marking the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941−1944). Documents of Presidential Library tell about siege history of Obukhov Plant

The Presidential Library's collection continues to be enriched with electronic copies of documents from the Museum of Obukhov Plant History (from 1922 to 1992 - Bolshevik Plant). The materials digitised by the Presidential Library tell about the work of the plant during the Great Patriotic War. Diary entries and photographs give an opportunity to learn how the factory workers lived and worked in besieged Leningrad.

A new exposition, "All Passengers Happily Alight at the Terminus", devoted to the USSR municipal transport will operate from September 16 till December 12, 2016 at VDNH Pavilion No. 67 (Karelia).
