May 15 traditionally marks an International Family Day, established by the UN General Assembly in 1993. The Presidential Library’s collections contain a large number of materials that feature outstanding people from the informal side. Through letters, memoirs of contemporaries, we can see them through the eyes of loved ones, understand how they were at home, how they felt about their people.

The collection includes works by participants of the photo contest My Favorite Syktyvkar held in 2020 in honor of the 240th anniversary of the founding of the city of Syktyvkar. The contest has been organized by the Representative Office of Komi Republic in the North-West region of the Russian Federation and the St. Petersburg Komi community Nevatas.

March 9, 2020 marks the 86th anniversary of the birth of the legendary astronaut, Hero of the Soviet Union Yuri Gagarin (1934-1968). Digital collections of the Presidential Library contain unique materials dedicated to his life and feat. They entered the Outer Space collection, which includes newsreel fragments, periodicals, books, postcards, commemorative medals and badges as well as a separate large collection dedicated to the first astronaut.

The A. S. Pushkin Saratov Regional Library for Children and the Youth hosts the exhibition “I love the Caucasus” from the collection of the Mikhail Lermontov State Museum in Pyatigorsk. This exhibition is a joint project of the N. G. Chernyshevsky Library and the Museum-Estate.

The co-organizer of the event is the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineering and Signal Corps. The program of the event provides for the viewing and discussion of the film by Rasim Poloskin “Kalashnikov. A Man and an Assault Rifle".

The evidence of why she made changes to the coronation ceremony, how the crowned parent affectionately called her daughter and what the era of her reign was remembered for is available in the materials of the Elizabeth Petrovna (1709–1761) collection on the Presidential Library’s portal.

March 29, 2020 marks the 391st anniversary of the birth of Alexei Mikhailovich Romanov - the second Russian tsar from the House of Romanov, the father of the first Russian emperor, the great reformer Peter I. Although the people called the sovereign the Quietest and under this name a noble and well-educated sovereign went down in history, during his reign, Alexei Romanov showed remarkable strength of will and character.

The All-Russian contest "The Most Readable Region" will be held for the sixth time. It was launched in the Year of Literature in Russia. Ulyanovsk (2015), Voronezh (2016), Saint-Petersburg (2017), Irkutsk (2018) and Belgorod (2019) regions have been awarded the title "Literary Flagship of Russia" in different years. The contest's organizer is the Russian Book Union supported by the Federal Agency on Press and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation.

The State Hermitage Museum, the State Historical Museum, the State Russian Museum and others will support the annual #MuseumSelfie campaign. The cultural flashmob, whose participants take original pictures against the backdrop of their favorite works of art and share them on social networks, has been going around the world since 2014. The Presidential Library will present more than 500,000 digital copies of archival materials, documents, film and photo chronicles from its electronic fund in conjunction with the St. Petersburg Library Society. The book salon will complete its work on May 28, 2017.
