The Presidential Library’s postcards and posters tell about the history of the celebration of May 1

Russia celebrates the Spring and Labor Day on May 1. The tradition of celebrating this holiday has been going on for many years. The Presidential Library’s collection contains dozens of postcards with photographs spotlighting the political coloring of events from the pre-revolutionary period to the present day. Among them there are unique ones, such as the work of Alexander and Viktor Bulla Working Deputation on Palace Square on May 1 of 1917.

The exhibition The Northern Route: The Arctic in Russian Literature and Art runs at the Presidential Library (Senate Square, 3) from July 1 to September 30. The exposition tells how Russian writers, followed by artists and already in the 20th century, filmmakers, showed in their works the peculiarities and traditions of the life of the peoples of the North, the exotic beauty and wealth of the Arctic, the ideas about this harsh land and its heroes.

Alexander Nevsky, Prince of Novgorod (1236-1251) and Grand Prince of Vladimir (from 1252), was born May 13, 1221 (according to the old historiographic tradition - May 30, 1220) in the family of Prince Yaroslav Vsevolodovich and Princess Feodosia, who was a daughter of Prince Mstislav the Daring. This year it took place on August 30, 2022 at 12:00. According to the established tradition, representatives of the pedagogical community of the district held a conference to set goals for the new academic year. Taras Klimentyevich Ogibenin was born on July 19, 1861, in the Visimo-Shaitansky Demidov Plant. His family moved to Tyumen and founded a chest workshop in the Zarechnaya part of the city. Taras Ogibenin graduated from a technical school in Yekaterinburg, served as the artillerist in Kazan. Then, he passed the exams for the mathematics teacher. Completing the study, he became a teacher at the Tyumen District School. In 1893, Taras Ogibenin resigned.
