The set of documents covering the campaign of 1860s of two Russian cruiser squadrons under the command of Rear-Admirals S. S. Lesovsky and A. A. Popov to the shores of the United States, includes some articles and reviews published in the national press from the time when the event took place to the present, as well as an essay published by the US Naval historical Foundation.

In 2021 the Russian fleet turns 325 years old. The Russian navy has won glorious victories more than once and one of them was the victory in the Battle of Chesme, which took place on July 5-7 (June 24-26 according to the old style) in 1770. More information about this battle is available on the Presidential Library's portal in the large-scale collection The House of Romanov. The Zemsky Sobor of 1613, which features historical research dedicated to the reign of Empress Catherine II.

On February 28, 2023, the Murmansk State Regional Universal Research Library hosted the Arctic Day. The event was timed to coincide with the 5th anniversary of the Murmansk Regional Centre of the Presidential Library and began with a screening of short documentaries on the history of the development of the Arctic and the Northern Sea Route from the Presidential Library’s collections.

The 160th anniversary of the birth of the talented Russian engineer, inventor of radio, Alexander Popov (1859-1906) will be marked on March 16, 2019. Apart from rare publications about the scientific quest and the life of the scientist, the Presidential Library's collections also include “The memorial plaque on the building of the Kronstadt Marine Plant, dedicated to the first Radio Technical Enterprise in Russia, which was the initiative of A. S. Popov (Saint Petersburg, Kronstadt)” (2014).

Alexander Ivanovich Marinesko was born on January 2 (15), 1913 in Odessa in the family of a Romanian citizen Ion Marinescu (Ivan Alekseevich Marinesko) and a native of Kherson Governorate Tatiana Mikhailovna Koval. After graduating from the Odessa Labour School № 36 in 1926, he entered the Jung School, where he qualified as a 1st class sailor (1930). Then, until 1933, he studied at the Odessa Maritime Technical School as a long-distance navigator.

Konstantin Dmitrievich Nosilov was born on October 17 (29), 1858 in the village of Maslyanskoye, Krestovsky volost, Shadrinsky district, Perm province (now Kurgan Region) in the family of a village priest. From 1868 he studied at the Dalmatov Monastery, and later at the Perm Theological Seminary, from which he was expelled “for lack of diligence”.
