Scientists of the Sydney University have discovered an ancient city Mahendraparvata in Cambodia using lidar (laser radar). They used a helicopter for a search from which was conducted the scanning. Scientists have made an accurate map of the lost city, including roads, canals and temples, some of which have 1.2 thousand years.

The New York Public Library (NYPL) is launching "the world's largest automated sorter of library materials, a 238 foot, room-sized system of conveyors, lasers, computers and book bins," at the new Library Services Center in Long Island City (USA).
