Boards of Weights and Measures established

20 June 1893
On June 8 (20), 1893 in St. Petersburg on the initiative of Dmitry Mendeleev, scholar and curator of Weights and Measures Models Depot, in order to ‘preserve the uniformity, correctness and mutual correspondence of weights and measures in the state’ was established the Boards of Weights and Measures, the scientific metrological center of Russia.

The German Federal Supreme Court (Bundesgerichtshof) has ruled that Google does not infringe copyright when it displays small previews of images from other people’s websites, and thus rejected a suit filed by an artist from Weimar, who claimed that search results, showing thumbnail images of her pictures, violated her copyrights, Deutschland Funk reports.
